Kid Friendly Breweries and Restaurants in San Diego

Have you ever wanted to get a drink, but could not think of a kid friendly place to take the little ones with you? Maybe you don’t have any kids of your own, but plan on meeting up with your friends who do or family members. Luckily, San Diego breweries and restaurants typically welcome families through their doors with a number of them equipped to serve and handle your drinking and playing needs. Below is a list of a few places you may want to check out. After all, it is the weekend and time to treat yourself to a few cold ones!

BottlecraftLiberty Station

Not a brewery per say, but rather a tap room. This is the ultimate weekend hangout. Bottlecraft can handle all your adult beverage needs. They regularly have an extensive list of craft beers on tap as well as bottles you can purchase and pour right then and there. There are numerous food vendors located inside Liberty Public Market, making it the perfect spot if you happen to have a few picky eaters. Also, be sure to  grab a lawn seat outside so the kiddos can run around and play. One of the great things about this particular location is the fact that you will not be the only family there. Due to this being kid friendly, you will be in the company of many other children and beer loving parents.

Stone Brewing World Bistro & GardensLiberty Station

If you attempt to go to Liberty Public Market on the weekend and find that it’s a bit crowded, don’t stress. A few feet away is another kid friendly place, Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens. There is plenty of outdoor seating and it has two bocce ball courts. Bocce is fun game for the whole family. Even if the kids are too young to comprehend the game, there are balls for them to simply throw around. Their kid’s menu will even have you wanting to order off of it. Some of the kid friendly items available include: braised pot roast, fried chicken and teriyaki chicken bowl.

Pizza PortOcean Beach

Pizza Port OB BeerIf a beach day is already planned, this is the perfect brewery to head to afterwards. This spot is just a mere block away from the beach! The great thing about Pizza Port is that their pizzas and their beers are amazing. On any given day, they are likely to have 25+ unique craft beers on tap. Seating will be familiar to the kiddos since it’s cafeteria style. They do have a few pin ball and arcade games to make things a bit more kid friendly. Just don’t expect Chuck e Cheese!

Panama 66Balboa Park

Visiting a number of Balboa’s amazing museums is a great way to combine fun and education. Whether you visit the Reuben H. Fleet Science Museum, Modern Rail Museum, the NAT, or walk through the Japanese Friendship garden, you might need a cold one afterwards. Our recommendation is Panama 66. This is the perfect place to grab a bite and a beer picnic style. They provide a number of local beers on tap at all times. In case you forgot to bring your blanket, do not worry as they can provide you with one. After attempting to remain semi-quiet in a museum, the kids will probably have some energy that needs to be released. The sculpture garden is cartwheel, tag and running friendly. You can bring your own snacks and watch the little ones play or you can order a sandwich from their simple kids menu.

Whether you’re meeting up with friends or simply want a night out with the family, make sure you add Waypoint Public to the top of your dining list. Their beer list is extensive and ranges from sours, pilsners and browns all the way to multiple variations of IPA’s. Don’t worry, if you cannot make it for dinner this is also an ideal place to enjoy a family brunch minus the bottomless mimosa crowd. Moreover, if the little one(s) get restless there’s no need to force them to stay at the table as there is a separate area with a playpen, bean bags and toys.

QuartyardQuartyardEast Village

If you live in the downtown East Village area, Quartyard is the ideal place to take the kids and pooch on a stroll. It’s essentially a community bar/park. This shipping container turned bar, offers a number of local and regional beers on tap. Located right along side the bar and food trucks is Quartyards dog park. It may not be the largest dog park, but it does break up the monotonous sidewalks and buildings. This area offers turf for your dogs and some picnic tables instead. Typically, Downtown is not known for being very family friendly, but this area is a place that brings community and family together.

Thorn StreetNorth Park

Finally, if you have not had the chance to try any of Thorn Street’s brews because it’s too difficult to bring the whole family…please do yourself a favor and just go! Thorn Street’s website even mentions how kid and dog friendly they are. The only caveat is that kids are not allowed after 8pm. This is simply a great neighborhood brewery with awesome beer. There is a different food truck every day of the week, and many of these offer kid friendly food. If the little ones get thirsty and want to join in the fun, Thorn Street also has craft root beer on tap.
