King Harbor Brewing Turns 3!

On April 1st, we got the chance to attend King Harbor Brewing’s 3rd Anniversary Party at their main brewery located in Redondo Beach, CA! For those of you who are not familiar with their story, King Harbor opened their doors in the heart of the Los Angeles beach cities in 2014 with the goal of brewing dynamic, approachable beers, packed with unique flavor profiles. Their attention to detail and quality, while being inspired by the California coast, allow them to have wildly creative and consistently delicious beers. That in mind, we expected nothing less out of their Anniversary Party and boy did they deliver! We’ve been to quite a few anniversary parties over the years, and this one was by far our favorite that we have attended so far. Here’s the reasons why:

THE BEER

Unlimited pours from 36 taps of specialty beers, one off releases, and their classic favorites. Here are some of their speciality and one off releases they offered:

-King Swirly the 3rd
-Double Chocolate King Swirly the 3rd
-Hawaiian King Swirly the 3rd
-Henry Nilsson IPA (lime n da coconut)
-Early Bird (pale ale w/ stumptown cold brew coffee)
-Fire Storm (baltic porter w/ chilis)
-The Yesod Special (coconut passionfruit pale ale)
-Razz-MA Tazz (raspberry belgian)
-Special Variations of their Tiki Hut IPA

Our stand out speciality beers were: Early Bird, Leaky Tiki Pineapple Tiki Hut IPA, & Sneaky Tiki Hut IPA. Our stand out classic beers were: Coconut IPA & Able Brown!

Those who attended also got the first shot at the King Swirly the 3rd Anniversary Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Dark Ale bottles. 3 variations this year – the OG, Hawaiian, and Double Chocolate.

LINE MANAGEMENT

The other thing that was so impressive is despite having a few hundred people in attendance, you didn’t wait more than 5 minutes to refill your mug with their delicious beers. The friends and family they had volunteering and helping out at the event did an amazing job keeping things going!

THE ENTERTAINMENT

On top of having the usual things you would expect to see at a brewery (i.e.: giant jenga, giant beer pong, & bags), they went the extra mile to have a live band and our personal favorite the DUNK TANK! They had volunteers running all the beer booths so that opened up for the employees to enjoy the Anniversary Party. A few of their employees were gracious enough to allow people who attended to attempt to dunk them in the dunk tank! We are proud to say that William, was able to successful dunk their sales rep, while holding his camera! Check out the video HERE.

THE EMPLOYEE BEER CONTEST

One of the coolest parts of this event was the fact that a bunch of their employees got the opportunity to brew a beer for it. They then had a contest to see which employee beer was the fan favorite. You were given a ticket, and then asked to vote for your favorite one after trying all six. Here were the options:

-Guava Lava (gose w/ guava lime smoked sea salt)
-One Night in Brussels (Belgian strong ale)
-Muffin Top (tart wheat ale w/ blueberry muffins)

While they were all really impressive beers, we ended up voting for the Guava Lava! We just couldn’t get enough of that beer, and we definitely hope they brew more of it in the future! Just a Phaze is definitely our honorable mention in this category!

THE GLASSWARE / WRISTBANDS

The first 400 people got an glass anniversary mug to drink from all day and take home to drink from later. They also gave out these cool blue rubber wristbands, that made for another great souvenir!
