Melvin Brewing Plans Location in San Diego
We think it’s time to address the elephant in the room! Or better yet in San Diego!
In a community event hosted by Melvin Brewing at the Knotty Barrel Gastropub in Downtown San Diego, Melvin announced their plans to open a brewpub in the heart of San Diego sometime in early Fall of 2018.
When asked, “Why come to San Diego?”, Melvin Team members responded “It makes sense! We were inspired to start brewing because of the IPAs coming out of here and we want to come to San Diego to not only learn more about our craft, but to also collaborate with other breweries and be a part of the local craft community.”
Founded in 2010, Melvin began brewing in the back of the Thai Me Up restaurant in Jackson, Wyoming with only a 20-gallon system. Their IPAs quickly gained popularity due to their drinkability and mesh of ingredients. The beers earned the Wyoming local gold at 2012, 2015, 2016, and the 2017 Great American Beer Festival. The Brewery plans to set up shop on the corner of 14th and Market street.
The brewpub will be going for a Kung-Fu and 90s Pop music theme, which is similar to their other locations. Additionally, the interior itself will be decorated with industrial wood and metalwork. They’ll also be playing music hits from the 90s, such as Wu-Tang Clan, and have Kung-Fu movies play on the big screen for your viewing pleasure.
“Of the beers we serve, we plan to have sixty percent be unique to our San Diego location while only shipping in our flagship beers from our production facility in Alpine, Wyoming.” continued the same Melvin team members, “and who knows? If our San Diego line does well, then we might consider shipping from it as well!”
We’ve had Melvin’s delicious brews before and needless to say, we are very excited about this news! We look forward to their grand opening in October!
