Coronado Brewing Company’s 22nd Anniversary Party

Coronado Brewing Company turned 22 this past Saturday and kicked it off with a bang by having a huge party at their main production facility on Knoxville St. in San Diego, California.

Outside Patio of Coronado Brewing Company, Knoxville StreetPrior to it’s founding in 1996, Coronado Brewing was only a homebrew project shared between two brothers, Ron and Rick Chapman, whom occasionally shared the fruits of their labor with friends and family. Eventually, they would go on to open a brewpub and share their beers with the local community of Coronado, CA. Their beers quickly gained acclaim and after 22 years in business, have opened their main production facility and an additional brewpub in Imperial Beach, CA. They currently distribute their beers to over 22 U.S. States and 6 countries.

To celebrate this achievement, Coronado Brewing held a huge block party at their Knoxville St. location and invited friends and family to enjoy some music, food, and of course, beer. The entrance fee for the event was $10 and included a free drink and a raffle ticket. All Raffle proceeds went to the Surfrider Foundation, a community of people that seek to protect and keep California’s Coastline clean of pollution.

Here were some highlights we thought really pulled the party together!

BeerCoronado Brewing Company 22nd Anniversary IIPA

What’s a party without beer? Coronado Brewing released their 22nd Anniversary Imperial IPA to help celebrate their moment! This IIPA is brewed with a combination of Mosaic, Citra, and El Dorado hops to produce a fruity flavor and aroma. In the taste, it was surprisingly light, with some noticeable bitters here and there. Overall it was very aromatic in both scent and taste but was an easy, drinkable IIPA. Not to worry if you missed out on this experience! Coronado brewing plans on releasing six-can packs and 22oz bottles to its distribution network soon afterward.

Music

Music and Food at Coronado Brewing Company Party

Local alt-rock radio Station 91X was on the stage and played music that reflected their namesake. For the main event, you had DJ Mike Czech, a nationally syndicated radio DJ who plays 80s-90s rock and house music, and The Sidekicks, an alternative rock band from Ohio that played songs from their newest album ‘Happiness Hours’.

Food

There were a bunch of food vendors that sold an array of options! While each was delicious, Taquizas Los Chuchy’s took the gold for the best food! Their combination plate of two classic street tacos with rice and beans made the beer we enjoyed all the more enjoyable!
