Your Guide to SDBW Events in Miramar

sdbwFriday, November 4th through Sunday, November 13th is San Diego Beer Week! The week is filled with numerous events and we decided to break it down by different areas throughout San Diego so you could choose the ones that are close to home and/or work! There are a great deal of breweries in Miramar so there are a lot of events going on all week in that area. Planning which events to go to throughout the week can be tough so hopefully this list will help you in your decision making!

Here are all of the events that the Miramar area has to offer for San Diego Beer Week:

Intergalactic Keep the Pint Night hosted by Intergalactic Brewing Co.

Come help them kick off SDBW with the release of their 2016 SDBW beer, a hoppy San Diego pilsner. In addition to tapping the SD Pilsner they are going to be doing the first of their keep the pint nights, with special 2016 Intergalactic Brewing SDBW glasses.

4505 Meats and Mikkeller San Diego are bringing together NorCal and SoCal with a collaborative Pig Roast. Celebrate San Diego Beer Week with the deliciousness of Mikkeller’s beer and humanely-raised, delicious pork! Included in your $25 ticket price is: A plate of sustainably-raised, slow-cooked pork plus local tortillas, sides and fixin’s, a Mikkeller beer + a bonus taster shot, all the 4505 Chicharrones you can eat plus a bag to take home, and the company of some amazing folks! They’ll be taking the hog off around 1:00 pm for lunch, and they welcome you to stick around all afternoon to enjoy food, beer, and good times.

For 364 days out of the year, 2kids is a politics-free zone and closed on Tuesdays, but this one day they’ll make an exception. They will be pouring all day with live coverage of Decision-pocalypse 2016 with beer specials throughout the day. Beers flow until the election is called. Celebrate the triumph of intelligence over idiocy or mourn the death of our republic- it’s your choice. They’re ready to pour you a beer either way!

Eclipse Chocolate & Beer Pairing hosted by Duck Foot Brewing Co.

They’ve partnered with Eclipse Chocolate for a sweet pairing! Eclipse Chocolate handcrafts a collection of gourmet confections, made with Fair Trade Certified couverture chocolate and accented with exotic, all-natural infusions. They’ve taken 5 of their unique chocolate creations and paired them with 5 of their finest ales for a flight of chocolatey goodness. Head Brewer Derek will host the event, guiding you through each of the pairings. Tickets to this event are available online for $25, sales end November 6th.

Alesmith 3-Day Speedway Grand Prix hosted by AleSmith Brewing Co.

Start your engines! It’s time for AleSmith’s 4th Annual 3-Day Speedway Grand Prix event during San Diego Beer Week! Join them for this year’s event as they again feature over twelve different varieties of Speedway Stout broken into three flights (aka laps). Local chocolatier Andrea’s Truffles creativity will also be put to the test as she crafts six special Speedway truffles to pair with your laps. Finally, they know your memory can get a little fuzzy after a night of drinking Speedway Stout, so they will have the camera camper photo booth onsite (4:30-8pm daily) so you can relive the night the next day and for years to come!
The Speedway Grand Prix will take place at AleSmith Brewing Company Wednesday (11/9/2016), Thursday (11/10/2016), and Friday (11/11/2016) during San Diego Beer Week. 
All specialty Speedway flights must be pre-purchased on Eventbrite and redeemed at the brewery on the day of the event for which you purchased your tickets.

Come out and try another of Rob’s famous English-style ales in the most authentic way possible.
Real Ale is cask-conditioned in a traditional pin cask with whole-leaf hops and then served via gravity for the most old-word pint you’ve ever had. The progressive cask means pints are $3 at 3PM, $4 at 4PM and $5 from 5PM on.

This is a day that you won’t want to miss! They’re rolling out all of the sours they have for a day of tart goodness on the 9th of November! Their Barrel-Aged tap takeover event includes a vertical tasting of multiple years of BBA Brown Ale in Woodford Reserve and two years of BBA Zumbar in Heaven Hill (one of which has been resting for over 12 months). These are joined by BBA blends, such as Grand Cru and one-off specialty batches using barrels from 4 Roses and Wild Turkey. If you thought last year’s line-up was amazing, this year will be truly awesome! For the first time ever, barrel-aged Zumbar will be available in 22oz bottles, in limited quantities. They’re opening their archive and giving it everything they’ve got! Barrel-Aged Belgian Tripel:
Aged for 9 months in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels, this classic Belgian style takes on both the flavors of the barrel and the wine that used to be in it. A little oaky dryness as well as some bold Cab flavors amp up the flavor profile and make for an enjoyable drinking experience.

Barrel-Aged Berliner Weisse:
This magically drinkable German style beer takes well to spending time in a wine barrel. The barrel character, infused with robust red wine, adds bold flavor and complexity to this classic, tart ale.
